I moved from the mainland to Hawaii in 1975. Being an avid swimmer and hiker, I have immersed myself in the beauty of the islands. When I first came to the Big Island of Hawaii there was only one traffic light in Kona. Ah, those were the good old days! I was a self-taught artist; however, I became a single mother of four sons: thus, I put my art aside for many years in order to support and educate my children. I returned to college and earned both an Bachelors and Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii. I also earned my Certified Public Accountant credential and worked in the field of finance for thirty years. I started and ran my own CPA practice from 2004 until 2020. While working, I earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from the Academy of Art University and graduated in 2019.
I paint seascapes and landscapes both en plein air (outside on location) or in the studio. I paint in the alla prima method (wet on wet) which consists of several layers and sessions. My style is painterly realism using brush and knife work to create dynamic art. I have exhibited internationally and domestically as well as here on the Big Island of Hawaii. I have gallery representation both on the east and west side of the island. Prominent artists who I have studied with include: Darrel Hill, Craig Nelson, Daniel Gerhartz,John Poon, Scott Burdock, and Sunny Apinchapong-Yang. I have also painted several commissions for friends and collectors. Contact me if you would like a portrait of a loved one or a fur baby or a favorite place that you have visited here in Hawaii or on the mainland. If you would like to see an original in person, please make an appointment with me so that we can set up a viewing.
